This restaurant’s proprietor, Nino, is a Door County legend and has become a family friend over the years as we have visited him at his restaurants, including The Summer Kitchen in upper Ephraim. The kids always look forward to seeing him and enjoy his warmth and his canny ability to remember our names and our orders!

No trip to Door County is complete without at least one visit to Wilson’s for ice cream! While this is a great place for lunch or dinner, Wilson’s is best known for its delicious hard packed ice cream. I highly recommend the chocolate peanut butter explosion!

Even before enjoying a bite of Swedish pancakes with lingonberry sauce, visitors will revel in the unique sight of goats grazing atop the restaurant’s grass-covered roof. A must-do for any visitor, eating at Al Johnson’s will bond tourists with those from decades before.
